Made a Road Trip through Spain

In June 2023, I took advantage of a national holiday to go on a short road trip. It was my first real vacation since starting my professional career, and I wanted to do something different.

I picked up the car on a dark and rainy day and headed east, hoping to escape the bad weather. My initial plan was to reach Barcelona within two days on the road, but things quickly changed along the way. I first stopped in Madrid, where I discovered the fascinating concept of capsule hostels. It was a fun experience, and I also had the chance to explore the city center and visit an iconic cat café.

After Madrid, I remembered I had a friend working in Valencia and, unlike Barcelona, the forecast there was sunny. So, I drove south to meet him and enjoy the rest of my trip. We met an adventurous group of people who stayed with us all night to watch the sunrise and dive into the sea after a sleepless night.

On the last day, we headed to Benidorm to experience its lively beach lifestyle. Needless to say, I tried authentic paella, and it was as awesome as it could be.

In the end, I drove the 9 hours straight back to Portugal to reach the office in time for work. It was such a unique and unforgettable experience.
